Transport Manager

I started with Regal Travel as a driver back in 1985 not long after the company first opened. I continued for a number of years but in 1995, I went into PCV work in London & then later I returned back to Bridgend working for a local bus company. At the end of 1998, I was approached by the proprietor and was informed that a position would soon arise for a Transport Manager in which I started back with the company in January 1999. During this early period, computer systems were being installed in Bridgend & also in the branches that were soon to be opened in Maesteg, Porthcawl & Port Talbot. The systems could log client holiday details as well as the transport details. This was an expensive investment, however, with the addition of larger buses (PCV) we were able to accommodate the large number of passengers / clients travelling with the company taking advantage of the Courtesy Transport.

In 2007, legislation was such that all buses over 8 passengers were to be fitted with tachograph devices, (a way of monitoring driver and vehicle activity). During this time, a number of companies stopped providing airport transport as this was due to the enormous running costs of providing such a service.

As Regal Travel was one of the first companies to provide the airport service in South Wales, it has continued to do so with passenger safety and reliability being the main priority. It is hoped that this service will continue to do so in the same manner for many years yet to come.
